The Orr family outdoor maternity and family session in Canton, Ohio

As a photographer (and a Mom of 3 myself!) who has worked with many expecting mothers and families over the years, I can tell you that maternity photos are a wonderful way to capture this special time.

Something the Orr family knows all too well, as they were expecting their THIRD baby for this maternity session we shot in Canton, Ohio! They had a long drive to meet me at sunset, and after they made the trip up, we had one of the most beautiful golden hour sessions with their two girls.

And while I’m going to show you just a few of my favorite images from their session in this blog post, I'd also like to share my perspective on the feelings a mom will get looking back at her maternity photos with her family…based on my own experience, and what the women I’ve worked with have told me as well.

1.A sense of nostalgia.

As time goes by, it's easy to forget the details of your pregnancy and the special moments that you shared with your family. Looking back at these photos will remind you of the bond that you share with your partner, and of the excitement and anticipation of welcoming a new member to your family. There's nothing quite like the joy and happiness of welcoming a new baby into the world.
