Krouse intimate outdoor maternity boudoir session at the river in Akron, Ohio
As someone who has been pregnant four times and delivered three babies (we had one loss before my daughter was born) I know how physically WILD pregnancy IS and CAN BE. It’s a vulnerable and transformative time for women. Even the most confident, healthy, and excited women, can struggle.
So the courage of women who not only are willing to strip down in front of a stranger and be photographed, is not something that I take for granted. Further, the women who are fully embracing the good, bad, weird, and super awkward changes and celebrating them, deserve so much praise.
This was another session at one of my absolute favorite spots not far outside of the Akron area. It’s almost always a pretty secluded spot where I rarely see anyone (except for the other time I took nude maternity photos here and some older ladies were studying bugs, you can see that session here, totally worth it though!) and I love the way the light hits. It’s a little bit of a weird walk, overgrown, a lot of brush, but it’s short and this beautiful little oasis is at the end of the short walk. Again, also worth it.
While I’m not in the medical field, I imagine my take on nudity and bodies is becoming similar. I see it a lot. And nothing really shocks me, surprises me, or really gets any reaction out of me at this point. I’ve watched quite a few women give birth, I’ve taken many boudoir and maternity and nude photos. It’s all just bodies. And there is something pretty freaking cool about getting over that hump of self consciousness.
Some women are very open and ready to strip down and bare it all in the name of art. Others, I know, are more hesitant. The level of skin you show at any session with me is ALWAYS up to you! Want a dress? You got it! Want jeans and a bra! Sounds great! Want nothing but your birthday suit, let’s go for it!
