Kat & Matt’s in home lifestyle maternity photo session in Cleveland, Ohio

So many things I want to say about this maternity session!

It really feels like Kat and I spent months planning this, and I think that may actually be somewhat accurate. We had originally discussed doing an outdoor session for her and her husband on the beach in Cleveland, but the weather forecast was pretty rough for our intended date (of course it didn’t end up raining) so we rescheduled. We ended up scrapping the entire outdoor plan (as well as I think every intended outfit she had purchased or planned on) and completely went a different direction for their session. Instead of taking gorgeous beach photos on Lake Erie in Cleveland, we decided to switch to an intimate session in their Cleveland home.

While I think this session would have ended up being amazing anywhere, their home has so many personal touches and meaning that I’m glad we were able to incorporate that. Both Kat and Matt left their ‘big kid’ jobs and decided to pursue what they loved and really wanted to do shortly before finding out they were pregnant. with TWIN girls. This home wasn’t intended to be their home but one Matt has been working hard on remodeling. I love that this home in their photographs is one he has completely remodeled with his own hands, and one that Kat has worked hard on decorating and making their own.

It’s where they’ll soon be bringing home their two brand new baby girls to meet the most adorable fur brother and where they’ll spend many sleepless nights.

I should also mention, that any couple who allows me to have Dad throwing back a beer in the background and pulls out the bourbon to relax during the end of the session is a-okay as hell in my book. New favorite couple EVER.

If your husband wants to enjoy some whiskey during your maternity photo shoot, if you want to incorporate your own home into your images and want a photographer that is laid back, will bring you a ton of outfits to try on and just hang out with you while she also happens to photograph you…then I’m your gal.
