The Domer’s Cuyahoga Valley National Park fall family photo session in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio
The fall season in Northeast Ohio is a beautiful time of year, with the leaves changing colors and the crisp air. This is the perfect time for a family outdoor photo session, as the scenery provides a stunning backdrop for capturing beautiful moments. For the Domer Family, I suggested one of my FAVORITE spots, in the national park we have right here in our backyard in Ohio, Cuyahoga Valley National Park. While one of the LEAST popular national parks, its completely underrated in my opinion.
As I HOPE you’ll see in this session, there is a REASON I always choose the session location and scout out where we will take your photos ahead of time. I know where the light will fall, and how it will look, and I’ll typically have spots around the park already picked out that I know photograph beautifully. We chose the typical session time I do for most of my photos, during the "golden hour" of sunset. 90% of my outdoor photos are always the last hour or so at the end of the day! Depending on the time of year, as you know, sunset changes. So while things are a bit cooler in the fall, and weather is less dry than most of summer, if you do have a little one who goes to bed early (or young like this one!) sometimes fall may be more preferable for your family since we won’t have a late start! Always keep this in mind when scheduling your session and choosing the time of year you want to be photographed.
As I help you prepare for your session, I always suggest choosing outfits that complement the fall scenery, as well as my style of work. Luckily, Earth tones are pretty much what go GREAT with my work, so fall actually is a big win! Earthy tones, such as browns, greens, and oranges, or neutral colors that will allow the natural beauty of the environment to take center stage, are great for an outdoor photo session in fall. Bonus tip: if you have a little one, ALWAYS dress your baby in comfortable and seasonally appropriate clothing, such as a cozy sweater or jacket, and accessorize with a hat or scarf to add a touch of warmth and style.
While Mom has been a photographer herself for awhile, even if you are also a professional photographer OR you’ve had your photos taken by other photographers, I will STILL guide you through my favorite poses and activities designed to capture natural and candid moments.
